WELCOME TO LUGANOThe 11th International Conference on Malignant Lymphoma, the main international forum devoted to basic and clinical research in lymphoid neoplasms, will take place in June 2011. This congress has always attracted many scientists to Lugano since the first meeting in 1981. Also in 2011 the conference will provide the worldwide most important forum for the discussion of all aspects relating to malignant lymphoma. On the occasion of its tenth edition (June 2008), the program of the ICML was profoundly reshaped: the number of Meet the Professor sessions and of Controversies were increased, "Focus on..." sessions and "Case Discussions" including aspects of basic science were added. Given to the success of these new features and to Palazzo dei Congressi limited capacity, these parallel sessions will this time be held outside the convention centre, in large conference rooms located nearby. Moreover, a new format will be introduced for some sessions, in which clinical data and results of translational and basic research will be integrated. A background lecture by an expert will introduce each of these new format sessions. We invite the submission of high-quality abstracts on all aspects of lymphoid neoplasms. All abstracts will be reviewed by international experts. The deadline for submitting abstracts is January 31, 2011, approximately four months before the conference: this very short interval should allow the inclusion of abstracts reporting the most recent results. As in 2008, the Abstract Book will include extended summaries of all educational sessions ("Meet the Professor"). Our meeting is very selective: for the eleventh edition most probably the number of abstracts selected for proffered papers will be further reduced. At the same time, however, poster sessions will be further upgraded and many abstracts will be presented in the "Focus on..." sessions. We are happy to announce that the San Salvatore Prize will again be awarded in conjunction with the Kaplan Lecture for outstanding achievement in the field of malignant lymphoma. We look forward to welcoming you to Lugano in June 2011.
