WELCOME TO LUGANOThe 12th International Conference on Malignant Lymphoma, the most important international forum devoted to basic and clinical research into lymphoid neoplasms, will take place in June 2013. In fact, due to various reasons and many requests, we have decided that from now on ICML will take place every second year and no longer every third year, as it has been since the first meeting in 1981.On the occasion of its 11th edition (June 2011) the program of the conference was reshaped, mainly with the introduction of many sessions, in which concomitantly basic and clinical data were presented while the focus was not a specific morphologic subtype, but rather a pathway or another biological framework (e.g. microenvironment, immune system, chromosomal abnormalities, etc.). We will continue to innovate also for the next edition for which we have already foreseen to introduce many new sessions (see paragraph “Scientific Program”). Especially noteworthy is the fact that for the first time we will have, immediately after the Kaplan Lecture, a Plenary Session, in which the best 3-4 accepted abstracts will be presented and then discussed by a worldwide known expert. We are sure that also the 12th ICML will attract, as always, many scientists to Lugano. We invite the submission of high-quality abstracts on all aspects of lymphoid neoplasms, including multiple myeloma and CLL. All abstracts will be reviewed by international experts. The deadline for submitting abstracts is February 28, 2013, approximately three months before the conference. This very short interval should allow the inclusion of abstracts reporting the most recent results. The Abstract Book will also include an Educational Section with extended abstracts of all educational sessions. Our meeting is very selective: therefore only a limited number of abstracts can be selected for proffered papers. At the same time, however, many abstracts can be presented in the so called “Focus on“ sessions or in the highly regarded poster sessions. We look forward to welcoming you to Lugano in June 2013.
